Former Buff Adam Delagarza won’t have to travel far to play summer league baseball, he has been named the starting third baseman for the Amarillo Dillas, the two time defending champions of the United League.
DeLaGarza, a Red Oak, Texas native, became the everyday shortsop for the Buffs during his first season at WT, hitting .435 with 11 doubles, two homers, 32 RBI and a team leading six triples. He was a member of the All-Lone Star Conference First Team and was also a member of the Daktronics All-South Central Region First Team.
Last week he was also honored with a spot on the NCAA Division II Daktronics Honorable Mention All-American team for his efforts on the diamond, becoming the second All-American in WT Baseball history.
The Buffs had one of their most successful seasons in years in 2010, recording a 23-20 overall record under second year head coach Matt Vanderburg with a 17-18 record in the LSC, finishing just one spot away from making the postseason conference tournament.
So far this season, the Dillas are 3-2 overall and will be hosting the Colts of San Angelo tonight at The Dilla Villa in Amarillo. Gametime is set for 7:05 p.m. and the game can be heard on AudioSportsOnline by visiting www.myamarillodillas.com.
